Motorcyclist dies in head-on crash south of Edmonton

EDMONTON – A 53-year-old man died Tuesday morning after the motorcycle he was driving collided with an SUV west of Leduc.

The collision happened on Highway 19 about three kilometers west of the QE2. Police say the man died at the scene.

The driver of the SUV, a 24-year-old woman, was taken to hospital with unknown injuries.

Charges against her are pending on the outcome of the investigation.

The cause of the collision still hasn’t been determined. But drugs or alcohol are not believed to have been factors in the crash.

Highway 19 was closed as police investigated the crash.

It reopened later on Tuesday morning.
