Cycling accident in Saint-Bruno leaves one dead

SAINT-BRUNO – A 13-year-old girl is dead following a cycling accident in Saint-Bruno on Thursday.

She had been hit by a car on Highway 116 at the intersection of de Boucherville boulevard at around 4 p.m.

The girl was rushed to hospital with severe brain injuries.

“The driver, a 74-year-old man, was heading toward Beloeil,” said Constable Mark David, with the Longueuil police.

“The girl was crossing with her bike and there was a collision between the two.”

She was pronounced dead on Saturday.

Police were unable to say whether or not the girl was wearing a helmet.

No charges have been laid against the driver.
