REGINA – Students and staff are being tested after a case of tuberculosis was confirmed at a school in Regina.
A student at St. Augustine Community School tested positive for the disease last month and a letter was sent to staff and students requesting they be tested on August 18th.

The Regina Catholic School Division says this is the first T-B case it’s encountered in the past five years.

Health officials say it’s quite serious, but point out that casual contact with the infected person should not be considered risky.
About 80 T-B cases are diagnosed across the province each year.
