Toronto Stock Exchange (12,700.74 down 67.97 points):
Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Transportation equipment. Down 21 cents, or 4.40 per cent, at $4.56 on 14,662,695 shares.
Northgate Minerals Corp. (TSX:NGX). Miner. Down two cents, or 0.50 per cent, at $4.01 on 7,100,683 shares.
Eastern Platinum Ltd. (TSX:ELR). Miner. Down five cents, or 6.58 per cent, at 71 cents on 6,949,756 shares.
Toronto-Dominion Bank (TSX:TD). Bank. Up $1.13, or 1.46 per cent, at $78.60 on 6,689,683 shares. TD was the last big Canadian bank to report its results for the quarter, with profits up 22 per cent compared with a year ago. TD said it will boost its dividend payment by two cents, or three per cent, to 68 cents per share. It had already increased the dividend by 8.2 per cent in March.
Suncor Energy Inc. (TSX:SU). Oil and gas. Down 38 cents, or 1.21 per cent, at $31 on 6,406,223 shares.

TSX Venture Exchange (1,812.47 up 1.60 points):
Petroamerica Oil Corp. (TSXV:PTA). Oil and gas. Unchanged at 16.5 cents on 4,844,300 shares.
North American Tungsten Corporation Ltd. (TSXV:NTC). Mineral exploration. Up four cents, or 13.79 per cent, at 33 cents on 4,483,300 shares.

Shaw Communications Inc. (TSX:SJR.B). Telecom. Down 81 cents, or 3.62 per cent, at $21.59 on 1,867,707. The company has abandoned plans to launch a wireless phone service. The Calgary-based telecommunications company said Thursday that the competition is too fierce in the wireless industry and that entering the market wouldn’t be beneficial to its shareholders. Instead, it will develop a broader Wi-Fi network.
Zarlink Semiconductor Inc. (TSX:ZL). Semiconductor manufacturer. Up 10 cents, or 2.79 per cent, at $3.69 on 2,207,294 shares. Zarlink urged stakeholders to reject what it called an “opportunistic” $549-million takeover bid for the company by a subsidiary of U.S. chipmaker Microsemi Corp. In its unsolicited bid, first announced in July, Microsemi offered to acquire all outstanding common shares of Zarlink for $3.35 per share.
Mosaid Technologies Inc. (TSX:MSD). Patent company. Up 70 cents, or 1.73 per cent, at $41.15 on 333,128. Mosaid announced it will manage patents of cellphone maker Nokia through the acquisition of Core Wireless Licensing S.a.r.l. in a deal funded through future royalties. Core would operate as wholly owned subsidiary of Mosaid.
