Guelph General Hospital says outbreak of C. difficile is over, 7 died since May

GUELPH, Ont. – An outbreak of C. difficile at Guelph General Hospital has been declared over.

The hospital says it declared the outbreak had ended after consultations with Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health.

The outbreak was declared in early July after officials noted a significant rise in hospital-acquired cases.

Seven people with C. difficile died while in hospital since May.

Six of them acquired the infectious bacteria while in hospital, while the other arrived with it. (CJOY)
