TORONTO – Toronto mayoral candidate Sarah Thomson isn’t gaining a lot of support these days especially after a flurry of residents took to Twitter to express their displeasure over receiving midnight robocalls from her election campaign early Friday morning.

“I hope someone at the @ThomsonTO campaign gets a stern talking to, because a robocall at 12:49am was rather unkind,” wrote Sarah Kavassalis.

The robocall blitz reportedly pertained to a Sunday barbecue invitation with Thomson.

“Woken up by a ringing landline at 12:43 am. Family emergency? No. A robocall from mayoral candidate @ThomsonTO Great way to lose votes,” tweeted Courtney Beckett.

Thomson recognized the error and subsequently sent out a tweet of her own with an apology.

“I apologize to all + anyone who was woken by a robocall – I’ve personally called the company + had them stopped,” Thomson wrote.

Still, that didn’t stop an outburst of negative tweets from blanketing Thomson’s Twitter feed.
