EDMONTON – A 30-year-old woman received life-threatening injuries Wednesday after she jumped out of a taxi in southwest Edmonton.

Police were called at 5:15 p.m. for a fare fraud complaint near 48th Avenue and 122nd Street, where a woman jumped out of a taxi, said Edmonton police spokeswoman Patrycia Thenu.

“It was first thought she had minor injuries,” said Thenu. “But when she was further examined in hospital, they discovered some possibly life-threatening injuries.”

It is believed the woman jumped out to avoid paying her fare.
