CALGARY- Bowness residents unnerved by a recent rash of violent incidents are trying to find ways to make their community safer.
Earlier this month, 38-year-old John MacIver was stabbed to death in a parking lot along Bowness Road. A man was also recently wounded in a shooting.

On Wednesday night, residents will meet with police, city officials and representatives from community outreach programs at an open house.
“Everybody’s fiercely loyal to the community,” says Sean Rollins, a longtime Bowness resident. “Once people get tired of it, we get together and it’s got to change. We can’t wait for somebody else to do it.”
The open house starts at 7 p.m. at the Bowness Community Centre.
