Baird travelled to Iraq earlier this month, meeting leaders of the country’s central government in Baghdad before travelling to the country’s Kurdish north.

Baird and two opposition MPs visited a Kurdish Peshmerga combat bunker about one kilometre from a village occupied by about 150 fighters from ISIS.

Canada has committed 69 special forces advisers to assist the Iraqi forces, and has contributed two military transport planes that are delivering guns and ammunition to the Kurdishforces.
