MONTREAL – Record-setting times and attendance at Montreal’s annual marathon today were overshadowed by the death of one of its participants.
A man in his 30’s died in hospital after receiving treatment for cardiac arrest at the end of the race.

Health officials say the heat and humidity made the race more difficult.
About 40 people received medical attention and 25 were taken to hospital.
A record 24,000 runners took part in the race compared to 20,600 last year.
First place finisher Kenyan Lunka Kipkemoi Chelimo set a new Montreal record, crossing the finish line in just under two hours 14 minutes.
On the women’s side, Ethiopian Serkalem Abrah finished in just over two hours 33 minutes.
