SASKATOON – Members of the Saskatoon Fire Department were called to extinguish a silo fire Friday at 102 Melville Street.
Fire crews got the call at 7:50 p.m. and arrived to find a large metal silo at Bioriginal Foods that had smoke coming out of its roof vents.

The fire department says it had difficulty extinguishing the fire due to limited access and the organic flax was packed inside the silo.
Firefighters used their aerial ladder unit to cut a large hole in the side of the structure to put out the flames.

The fire was under control in three and a half hours.
No injuries were reported.
An investigator is looking into the cause and damage is estimated at $10,000.
