TORONTO – Ontario’s public colleges have agreed to create a province-wide policy to deal with campus sexual assault.
The schools’ presidents voted Tuesday to help break down barriers and make it easier for victims to come forward.

Colleges Ontario is the advocacy organization for the province’s 24 colleges.
The decision comes after a Toronto Star investigation revealed that the majority of Canadian post-secondary institutions weren’t properly supporting sexual assault victims.

The newspaper found that only nine of 78 universities in Canada have special policies to deal with sexual violence.
Colleges Ontario will also create a task force to reach out to students for feedback.
