Close look at voter turnout in Saskatchewan Provincial Elections before the vote on November 7th.
Four of the highest voter turnouts in the 2007 Saskatchewan Provincial Elections were also some of the closest battles between candidates.
Of a total of 589,234 eligible voters in Saskatchewan, the province recorded just over 453-thousand votes in 2007.
Saskatchewan’s highest voter turnout was also the ninth closest riding in the 2007 provincial election. Saskatoon Eastview riding resulted in almost 10-thousand votes or a 91.65 per cent turnout. Judy Junor of the NDP won by a margin of 308 votes, defeating the Sask Party’s Terry Alm.
In eighth closest riding was Saskatoon Greystone, where the Sask Party’s Rob Norris defeated the NDP’s Peter Prebble by 308 votes. This riding also had the fourth highest voter turnout of 2007.
The fifth highest voter turnout in 2007 Saskatchewan election was won by a margin of 299 votes. Incumbent Frank Quennell of the NDP beat out the Sask Party’s Roger Parent in 2007 Saskatoon Meewasin riding. They will face each other again this year.

In Regina South, the Sask Party’s Bill Hutchinson defeated Yens Pederson of the NDP by 255 votes making it the fifth closest riding in 2007. The candidates face off once again in this year’s election.

- Regina Lakeview – 90.43 per cent
- Saskatoon Nutana – 85.62 per cent
- Saskatoon Greystone – 84.39 per cent
- Saskatoon Meewasin – 84.15 per cent
- Regina Douglas Park- 83.98 per cent
- Regina Wascana Plains – 83.61 per cent
- Regina South – 83.50 per cent
- Thunder Creek – 82.37 per cent
- The Battlefords – 81.82 per cent
The closest race in the 2007 provincial election was Moose Jaw North, where the Sask Party’s Warren Michelson defeated incumbent Glenn Hagel of the NDP by only 33 votes.
The riding with the most votes counted was the Saskatoon Silver Springs riding with 11,139 or an 80.24 per cent turnout.
The Cumberland riding held the lowest percentage voter turnout in 2007 with a 50.31 per cent turnout of eligible voters.

The 1995 provincial election saw a record low voter turnout of 64.6 per cent of eligible voters. The highest voter turnout was in 1971, when 83.2 per cent of eligible voters cast a ballot.
In the 2007 Saskatchewan Provincial Election 76.02 per cent of eligible voters cast a ballot.
Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall, dropped the writ on October 10th and the province will vote on November 7th.
