Frozen icicles were formed on branches of trees and shrubs in a green belt along the street. The rare winter sight covered nearly 300 square meters and attracted local citizens to take photos.

“When I took a walk with my mom, I found water leaking from a pipe, so icicles were formed within the afternoon,” said a citizen who lives nearby.

Temperature dropped by 9 degrees Celsius in Beijing on Monday. The water pipe was frozen and burst, according to a landscaping worker.

The temperature plummet followed a strong wind that swept across the city on Sunday.
