Charges laid in fatal ATV crash on Pigeon Lake

EDMONTON – A 43-year-old man from Okotoks has been charged following a fatal quad rollover on Pigeon Lake.

Two men were driving on the lake around 2:45 a.m. Saturday, when the 43-year-old lost control of the side-by-side ATV. The 24-year-old passenger was thrown from the quad and died at the scene, according to RCMP.

Police said recent warm weather caused areas of the lake to have thin ice, which the quad struck before rolling. Investigators do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Kevin Graham, 43, of Okotoks was charged with careless driving. The victims’ name was not released.
