Kensington store owner beats graffiti artist

TORONTO- A Kensington Market store owner said he physically attacked a man because he thought the intruder was attempting to draw graffiti outside his business.

Luis Vega said vandals have targeted his store in the past. So when he noticed a man he thought was attempting to draw graffiti on Thursday, he attempted to make a citizen’s arrest.

Vega injured the man during the confrontation. In a video that Vega shot, the unknown man is seen bloodied and apologizing.

Vega said he called police to file a report a little over an hour after the incident.

He said police did not have an officer available to take a report. The police called Vega back on Friday, he said, but he was not available to speak with them.
