MEADOW LAKE, Sask. – A former jail guard at a northern Saskatchewan RCMP detachment has been charged with sexual assault. Dennis Bienvenue, 71, was charged after a review of a cell block video.
The Meadow Lake RCMP detachment commander was reviewing the video on Tuesday and saw a female prisoner being removed from the cell block area. Mounties say the activity was not part of Bienvenue’s duties.

An investigation was launched and Bienvenue was charged with sexual assault. He is scheduled to make his first court appearance on June 8 in Meadow Lake.

Bienvenue’s work at the detachment has been terminated. He was working there as a guard through the Corp of Commissionaires.
