REGINA – The NDP is calling on the Wall government to get tough with illegal farm drainage of wetlands.
Opposition agriculture critic Cathy Sproule says enforcement should be stepped up.
But she also says there should be incentives for producers to protect important wetlands.

She says a reeve from eastern Saskatchewan told her that illegal drainage has “gone beyond craziness.”
She says the Saskatchewan Watershed Authority is underfunded and doesn’t have the resources to enforce the existing penalties.
