WINNIPEG — A Winnipeg woman will finally meet the girl to whom she wanted to donate part of her liver.

Samantha Lussier, 25, flew to Toronto last week to find out whether she was a match to donate part of her liver to Allexis Siebrecht, 11. She has the same rare blood type — O — as the little girl.

Siebrecht has suffered from a rare, life-threatening liver disease since she was three months old.

The two will meet for the first time Thursday afternoon at the Canadian Liver Foundation of Manitoba, Lussier’s mother Tina announced on Facebook.

Lussier will share her experience and make an appeal to others to get tested to see whether they are potential matches.
