WATROUS, Sask. – A Saskatchewan business owner has been charged with extortion and fraud. RCMP allege Dwight Hayter, the owner and CEO of Manitou Springs Resort in Manitou, attempted to extort money from three employees.
Hayter is facing three charges of extortion, three fraud charges and one charge of accepting repayment of wages by an employee.

Specifically, police allege Hayter threatened to either terminate the employees or have them removed from Canada unless they paid money.
None of the allegations have been proven in court.
Mounties launched their investigation in September 2014 after receiving information from the Ministry of Labour Relations regarding allegations of the mistreatment of the employees.

Hayter is scheduled to make his first court appearance on May 21 in Watrous provincial court.
