SASKATOON – Saskatoon police say a 33-year-old man gave himself up peacefully after a five-hour standoff in the Meadowgreen neighbourhood. At around 7:30 p.m. Friday, police received a call that a man had broken into a home and barricaded himself in the attic.

The caller indicated the man possibly had a firearm.

Officers attended the scene in the 500-block of Wardlow Road along with members of the tactical support unit and the explosive disposal unit.

Police say the homeowner and the barricaded individual were known to each other and this was not a random incident.

The man gave himself up to negotiators just after 1 a.m. Saturday. He is in custody and will be facing numerous charges.

No injuries were reported and the investigation is ongoing.
