REGINA – If you’re tired of making sure you have loose change in your car when you park downtown, the city is making it a bit easier for you the next time you park in front of a parking meter.
The city has installed 55 new digital credit-card capable parking meters along 11th Avenue between Albert St. and Broad St.

The new meters will allow drivers to pay for parking using Visa or Master Card, though debit cards are still not accepted.
“The new meters will improve customer experience,” said Kim Onrait, Executive Director, City Services Division. “This is a great opportunity to start to upgrade existing parking meters with modern technology.”

The new meters will also have wireless real-time meter monitoring capabilities which should reduce ‘down time’ for meters by alerting the city if a meter is malfunctioning.
This week city officials will be along 11th Avenue to help people who have questions or may need assistance about the new meters.
