TORONTO — A South Beach mansion once owned by fashion designer Gianni Versace is up for lease.
Cushman & Wakefield, which is seeking tenants for the 85-year-old building, says it’s ideally suited for luxury retail, high-end dining, a hotel, auction house or art gallery.
Versace was 50 when he was shot to death on the steps outside the Ocean Drive mansion in July 1997 by spree killer Andrew Cunanan.

The Italian designer bought the property in 1992 and spent more than $30 million turning it into his private palace. Celebrity friends like Cher and Madonna were regular guests.
Nearly two decades after Versace’s death, his former home remains a tourist attraction.
Renamed Casa Casuarina, it operated as a boutique hotel, high-end restaurant and private club until 2013, when it was sold in a bankruptcy auction to Jordache Enterprises for $41.5 million.
Last year, Kim Kardashian was photographed waving from one of its elegant balconies.
The 2,180-square-metre mansion has 10 suites ranging from 40 square metres to 133 square metres, gold-plated bathroom fixtures, a rooftop observatory, and stunning murals and mosaics.
A 16-metre pool is inlaid with 24-karat gold tiles.
