REGINA – About 800 fish have been rescued from a Regina creek where a large number were found dead earlier this week.

The Water Security Agency scooped up the fish on Monday night and moved them from Wascana Creek to Wascana Lake.

The action was taken after “a large number” of fish were found dead at the Albert Street Memorial Bridge.

The City of Regina says low water levels in the creek have caused low oxygen levels, which is killing the fish.

City officials say if it doesn’t rain soon, oxygen levels will continue to deplete and more fish could die.
