SASKATOON – Saskatchewan is following the feds in removing taxes on feminine hygiene products. The government announced Wednesday there will be no provincial sales tax on those products starting July 1.
That is the same day the federal portion of tax on feminine hygiene products will be removed.

“Our government believes that removing the sales tax from these products is the right thing to do,” stated Saskatchewan Finance Minister Kevin Doherty.

Government officials said a retroactive legislative amendment to The Provincial Sales Tax Act will be introduced in the fall sitting of the legislature to make the change official.
Products that will no longer be taxed include tampons, sanitary belts and napkins and menstrual cups.
