Famous movie monster helps Calgary kids learn about golf

WATCH: Some Calgary kids are hitting the golf course, and as Gil Tucker show us, they’re tackling a green of truly monstrous proportions.

CALGARY – Some lucky young Calgarians were shooting for a green of truly monstrous proportions on Thursday.

They were learning some of the fundamentals of golf by aiming at a giant blowup figure of Godzilla, renamed Golfzilla, hoping to land a shot in his mouth.

Almost 800 kids got into the swing of things, as part of the Calgary Soccer Centre’s “Jumpstart Games.”

It’s an annual event that lets families that might not be able to afford the fees sample fun versions of a few sports.

The golf area featured lessons from pros who work at local courses.

“It’s an awesome opportunity to connect with the kids,” said pro Bob Paley.
