PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. – Police in a northern Saskatchewan city say they had to Taser a teen after she allegedly refused to drop a knife. Prince Albert police say it started when they were called to a disturbance Wednesday just after 1 a.m.
Officers say that when they arrived, they were told a woman had a knife and was attempting to gain access to a residence she was familiar with.

A 17-year-old was found at the front door. Officers say that when she was being arrested, she produced a large kitchen knife and began to wield it aggressively.
Police say she refused to drop the knife despite numerous commands to do so posing what they called a serious threat to officers.
A Taser was successfully deployed and the teen was arrested. She was taken to hospital for medical treatment.

She is now facing charges of carrying a weapon for a purpose dangerous to the public, resisting arrest, and committing mischief by willfully destroying or damaging property.
The teen has been released from custody to her guardian under strict conditions until her appearance in provincial court at a later date.
