REGINA- It’s been five years since a young family was found murdered in their home, leading to one of Regina’s largest and most comprehensive police investigations.
On Thursday, Deputy Chief Dean Rae with the Regina Police Service said the file is now considered a cold case.
“I want to stress this file is not closed and we are committed to solving this file.”
The Htoo family, 31-year old Gray Nay Htoo, 28-year old Maw Maw and three year old Seven June Htoo were found dead in their Oakview Drive townhouse by their landlord on August 6th 2010.

The victims were refugees from Thailand and had lived in Regina for two years.
The investigation over the past five years has been extensive, including more than 200 police interviews, as many as 25 officers working the case at times and investigators even following leads south of the border.
Dean said despite questioning several suspects over the years, no charges have been laid.
“We have some theories,” he explained. “But at this particular time we don’t have evidence to hold those accountable.”
A cold case means fewer resources will be allocated, though any new leads will still be investigated.
“Time, while it may cloud some memories, the police are still dedicated to it (the file) and will continue no matter how long it takes,” added Dean.
Regina Police continue to offer a $50,000 reward in connection to the case and urge anyone with information to contact authorities.
