Fire near Chute Lake contained

NEAR NARAMATA — The B.C. Wildfire Service responded to a forest fire about a kilometre north of Chute Lake Monday evening.

Fire Information Officer Melissa Klassen says the blaze, believed to be lightning-caused, sparked around 4 p.m. and has grown to 0.4 hectares.

Klassen says three initial attack crews were deployed as well as air tanker retardant drops.

“Crews were able to construct a full guard around the and a wet line around the fire perimeter as well,” says Klassen. “The fire is now 100 per cent contaned thanks to those two actions.”

Klassen says four members of the wildfire service are doing mop up Tuesday.
