Two experienced American hikers who went missing in the North Shore mountains have been found.
North Shore Rescue (NSR) was activated at 10:30 a.m. this morning after the hikers, who are both 55 years old and from Wisconsin, did not return to their friend’s home in Richmond last night.

According to the couple’s friends, they were planning an ambitious hike which would take them from Lynn Headwater to Haynes Valley, followed by a technical climb of the Widowmaker and a hike up Grouse before returning to Lynn Headwaters.
Search crews are trying to narrow the search area and are concentrating on Haynes valley near Crown Pass because they believe the hikers got stuck on the climb and possibly got off route, said NSR’s Doug Pope.
Although the cloud ceiling is below the mountain making the helicopter search more difficult, ground crews are still able to search.
