WATCH: Raw footage of a serious accident involving a cyclist Monday night.
MONTREAL – A 20-year-old cyclist is in a coma after being involved in an accident in downtown Montreal.
The accident happened around 10:30 p.m. Monday night on the corner of Sherbrooke and Stanley streets.
The young man was cycling west on Sherbrooke Street and ran a red light.
He was hit by a vehicle turning left on Stanley Street and thrown from his bike, landing on the sidewalk.
He was unconscious when the ambulance arrived and taken to hospital with serious head injuries.

“The cyclist is being kept on life support at the hospital,” said André Leclerc with Montreal police.

The driver was treated for shock.
