Toronto police make second arrest in human trafficking case

Toronto police say they’ve arrested a second suspect in a human trafficking case involving two teenage victims.

Omar Dewdney, 29, was arrested and charged Friday with 28 offences including living on the avails of prostitution, forcible confinement, weapons possession and drug trafficking.

Another suspect, 20-year-old Solomon Houlder, turned himself in days after the Oct. 9 incident.

Police allege a dispute broke out between the men and the two victims – an 18-year-old woman and a 16-year-old girl – prompting one of the men to pull out two loaded guns.

They say the teens had been forced into the sex trade and made to turn over the money they earned.

Officers searched several apartments and a vehicle associated with the men and police say they seized a number of weapons, ammunition, drugs and counterfeit currency.
