Three men charged with Penticton kidnapping to appear in court

PENTICTON — Three men accused of the serious assault and kidnapping of a Penticton man are scheduled to appear in court today.

The kidnapping and assault happened in the early morning hours of May 21.

“The victim was found in a ditch by a motorist on Shingle Creek Road with a broken leg and restraints on his hands,” says southeast district media relations officer, Corporal Dave Tyremen in a news release.

John Szanto, Kerry Ellis and Albert Fontaine have all been charged with kidnapping, forcible confinement and aggravated assault.

A fourth man, Carey Anderson, has also been arrested and charged with choking.

All four men remain in police custody.

Police aren’t releasing the name of the victim.

RCMP believe this was a targeted attack. Anyone with information is asked to call the RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
