PELICAN NARROWS, Sask. – A man who admitted to fatally injuring another man during a fight in northern Saskatchewan has been sentenced to eight years in prison. Adam Terrance Sewap had been charged with second-degree murder, but pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter prior to the start of his preliminary hearing this past summer.

Sewap was arrested after the 29-year-old victim died in hospital from injuries suffered during a confrontation in Pelican Narrows on Sept. 8, 2014. The man’s name has not been released at the request of his family.

A provincial court judge in Pelican Narrows accepted a joint submission from the defence and Crown for an eight-year prison term, less time already spent in custody.
Sewap also faces a lifetime firearms ban.
