Last Crown witnesses being heard at Guy Turcotte’s trial

SAINT-JÉRÔME, Que. – The Crown could wind up its case this week in the trial of former Quebec doctor Guy Turcotte, who is charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the slaying of his two young children.

Turcotte has pleaded not guilty to the charges, but admitted to causing the deaths of Olivier and Anne-Sophie in Feb. 2009.

At the beginning of the trial, the prosecution said it intended to call 30 witnesses; the 25th took the stand Thursday.

The defence has not outlined its intentions yet or said if it will call Turcotte to the stand.

Quebec Superior Court Justice Andre Vincent has set aside three months for the jury trial.
