Liberal MP John McKay has held onto his highly sought after seat for a fifth term in the riding of Scarborough-Guildwood, beating out Conservative Chuck Konkel.
One of the most closely watched ridings in the federal election, the top two candidates from 2011 faced off again in a close race after McKay won in 2011 by just 691 votes.
Konkel was looking to end an 11-year Liberal hold on this riding, but was unable to secure the number of votes needed for an upset victory.

McKay did manage to hold on to his seat in the last election, but Konkel was close behind. This election marked the third time McKay and Konkel have run against each other.
McKay’s share of the vote had been declining steadily from 2004 when he earned 57 per cent, to just 36 per cent in 2011.
Konkel had been gaining more support, with 30 per cent of the vote his first time out, and 34 per cent in 2011, but was unable to get the job done this election.

The boundaries of the riding shifted slightly this year, excluding the area around East Point Park and Lower Highland Creek Park.
The riding encompasses Morningside, Woburn, and Guildwood.
