CALGARY – Calgary Police have laid charges after an unlawful confinement incident in the northwest.
According to police, the victim and his friend accepted an invitation to the home of a man they had met earlier while at a casino.
The three of them hailed a taxi and while en route the victim’s friend got out of the cab.

Once the victim and suspect arrived at a home in the northwest, two other men arrived.
The following morning, the friend who had exited the cab the night before started to receive text and voicemail messages from the victim’s phone demanding money in exchange for his friend’s safety.
The friend contacted police and officers were able to track down the victim at a home in the community of Sandstone. He was treated in hospital for serious injuries.
Maldini Amadou, Edward Muthoni and Ruslan Dovjenko have all been charged with forcible confinement, aggravated assaulted, assault with a weapon and extortion.
They are all scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2015.
