Towering over the traffic, a vintage double-decker bus is turning a lot of heads in Airdrie, Alta.: it’s Rebecca Reaville’s new secondhand kids clothing shop on wheels.
The vehicle first rolled into service carrying passengers in southern England almost half-a-century ago, then spent years as a tourist bus in Victoria and Vancouver, British Columbia.
Reaville picked it up this past spring, taking out all the seats to make room for her “Grow With Us” mobile store.

She had considered converting an RV to the store, before going for the old double-decker.
“It’s got a second storey, so you’ve got your whole other level,” Reaville said. “And it’s a mobile billboard in itself, the novelty of being a double-decker bus.”
It wasn’t designed for Alberta’s winter conditions, so Reaville will soon be parking the bus in a set spot in Airdrie before hitting the road again next spring.
