RCMP charge Edmonton man with robbing convenience store at gunpoint

EDMONTON – Police have charged a 29-year-old man with the armed robbery of a convenience store west of Edmonton.

Edmonton resident Joshua Bennett is facing 13 charges in connection to the armed robbery of the Parkland Reddi Mart just north of Spruce Grove on Nov. 12th.

Police said a man entered the store around 11:30 in the morning, pointing a handgun at the employee and demanded money. The suspect made off with an unknown amount of money, cigarettes and scratch lottery tickets.

Bennett’s charges include robbery, using an imitation firearm while committing an offence, wearing a disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

He also had two warrants for failing to comply with a probation order. Bennett remains in police custody.
