RCMP are warning the public about fake $100 bills that have surfaced in the Kamsack, Sask. area. Police say the counterfeit money has recently been passed or has been attempted to be used at area businesses.
Although the bills closely resemble a true $100 bill from a distance, officers say there are several apparent anomalies upon closer inspection including poor paper quality and a difference in size from a real bill. There is tape over where the transparent strip is located and that the transparent window should feel smooth with the rest of the bill.
They also pointed out that the fake bills do not have the small numbers in the window matching the denomination of the bill.
Officers said anyone can refuse to accept any bill they believe is suspicious even if it is legal tender.

Mounties say businesses should contact 911 immediately if they believe they are being passed a fake bill, the bill should be handled as little as possible and placed in an envelope for investigators.
