Little goat takes a big step into the holiday season spotlight

CALGARY – A young Calgary goat is doing her bit to spread the word on an international charity effort this Christmas.

“Reba” is getting ready to leave her home at Butterfield Acres and head out on a media blitz on Thursday December 3rd.

She’ll be making the rounds of TV and radio stations with a representative from World Vision, who’ll be outlining the organization’s program that provides a chance for Canadians to buy goats for families in places like Africa.

Butterfield Acres’ Katie Kelly said “Reba” was chosen because she’s easy-going. But the media visits could still present challenges.

“She likes to chew on everything,” said Kelly. “So she might chew on microphones, chew on chairs”.

So, to prevent that, Kelly’s taking along treats to distract “Reba” if needed: ice cream cones filled with oats and barley.
