Elderly woman dies after being hit in crosswalk at Londonderry Mall

EDMONTON — An elderly woman died in hospital Thursday night after being hit by a vehicle in north Edmonton that same afternoon.

Police were called to Londonderry Mall at around 2:30 p.m. Investigators believe the 74-year-old woman was in a marked crosswalk on the east side of the mall when she was struck by a Toyota Sienna van driven by a 42-year-old woman.

The senior sustained numerous injuries, and was taken to hospital in serious condition. She died a few hours later.

Charges are pending against the driver of the minivan.
