Pilot dead after plane crashes near Mascouche airport

MONTREAL – The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) has deployed team of investigators to the site of an accident involving a Mooney M20K at the Mascouche Airport.

According to Sûreté du Québec (SQ) spokesperson, Melanie Dumaresque, the plane crashed on the side of Highway 640 East, near the Mascouche Airport Monday afternoon.

The two people on board were taken to hospital in critical condition.

The pilot, identified as 40-year-old Houman Yahyaei from Laval, died of his injuries.

The passenger, a nine-year-old boy, remains in hospital.

A joint investigation, involving both the SQ and the TSB is underway.
