BARRIE, Ont. – A York Regional Police officer has been suspended with pay after being charged with impaired driving.
The 42-year-old officer was allegedly found driving the wrong way down Highway 400 near Barrie, Ont., just after midnight on Jan. 11.

Colin Smith, of Tiny Township, is charged with impaired driving, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and failing or refusing to comply with order to provide a breath sample.
Smith, who is a frontline officer in the Georgina detachment and has been with the force since 2004, is scheduled to make a court appearance in Barrie on Jan. 25.
