You’d think the fact that Earth is round is something that can’t be debated.
But for some “flat-Earthers” as they’re known — including rapper B.o.B — that’s not the case. To them, Earth is flat and any evidence to the contrary is part of a conspiracy.
Well, B.o.B took to Twitter this week to share his views about how our planet isn’t round at all.
Ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle argued that Earth was a sphere. Eratosthenes (276-195 B.C.) later accurately calculated the circumference of our planet — and even its axial tilt. Of course, we later used more scientific evidence, heck, even visual evidence to confirm that our Blue Marble — and all the other planets in our solar system and beyond — were indeed spherical in nature (Earth does have a slight bulge at the equator and other planets have more pronounced ones). But all the evidence doesn’t add up to flat-Earthers.
B.o.B even posted a rap track about it, with clips of Tyson.
But then the big-guns were pulled out. The tweets gained the attention of world-renowned astrophysicist and host of National Geographic’s StarTalk Neil deGrasse Tyson who poked very large holes in B.o.B’s theory.
- Calgary area ‘very uniquely situated’ for study of hailstorms, says researcher
- New Asia Highlands exhibit, with some new species, opens at the Calgary Zoo
- Scientists find sugar in the Milky Way. It could help answer a cosmic mystery
- Meta to build $13 billion data centre in Alberta, largest outside the U.S.
The tweets from B.o.B continued, but Tyson ended his side of the “debate” with one final tweet.
UPDATE: Tyson added another tweet — with a counter-rap.
