MONTREAL – Police have arrested 18 people after a series of drug raids in Montreal North and Longueuil Wednesday morning.
Montreal and Longueuil officers raided 18 homes and four vehicles in relation to street gangs both on the island and the South Shore borough of Saint-Hubert.

Montreal police spokesperson Manuel Couture told Global News investigators had been working on the file, named Accalmie, for months.
“Since September, Montreal police has conducted 150 searches, arrested 365 people and confiscated at least 115 weapons,” said Michel Leduc with SEMCJ.

Wednesday, authorities seized 710 grams of cocaine, three ounces of crack, 25 grams of marijuana and different types of ammunition.
The suspects are expected to appear in court via video feed at 2 p.m. Thursday.
They face multiple charges, including gangsterism and possession of narcotics with the purpose of trafficking.
