SASKATOON – Saskatoon police have charged a 30-year-old man after a taxi was stolen this past weekend. At around 10:45 p.m. CT on Feb. 12, police received a call from a cab company stating one of their drivers had been robbed at gunpoint by his fare in the 400-block of Avenue C South.
The taxi and an undisclosed amount of cash were stolen by the suspect.

Police located the 34-year-old cabbie uninjured and gathered more information. Shortly after, police located the stolen vehicle and the suspect refused to pull over.
Officers pursued the cab at a slow rate of speed with their emergency equipment activated for less than a minute before the suspect stopped the vehicle and fled on foot.
A police dog was brought in and helped in the apprehension of the suspect in the 1200-block of Avenue J South. He was taken to hospital for treatment of injuries consistent with dog bites.
Police recovered an air soft pistol in the taxi.
