TORONTO — A 63-year-old Cambridge, Ont. man has been charged after police say he drove through a red light, collided with a pickup truck, hit buildings, drove on the sidewalk, narrowly avoided a pedestrian and struck five parked cars while allegedly impaired.
Waterloo Regional police said the man was driving southbound on Water Street North in Cambridge at about 5:30 p.m. Monday, when he ran the red light at Main Street and was struck by the pickup truck.

Police said the car then drove onto the sidewalk on Main Street for 88 metres, crashed into buildings, a bench, a bike rack, two trees, nearly hit a pedestrian before re-entering the road and hitting five parked cars.
The unnamed man was arrested and charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and impaired driving.
Police said some of the buildings sustained extensive damage and some of the vehicles were “demolished.” No one was injured in the collisions.
