MONTREAL – Montreal Mayor Denis Coderre announced that Montreal and Dublin will soon become twin cities.

Twin towns or sister cities have a legal and social partnership that allows for the promotion of cultural, educational and commercial exchanges between them.

Coderre made the announcement during the annual St. Patrick’s Society charity ball on Friday night .

He said he’ll soon be traveling to Dublin to finalize details.

Dublin will be joining a long list of Montreal sister cities including:

  • Busan, South Korea;
  • Hiroshima, Japan;
  • Lucknow, India;
  • Lyon, France;
  • Manila, Philippines;
  • Milan, Italy;
  • Paris, France;
  • Shanghai, China;
  • and Yerevan, Armenia.
