Saskatoon’s 20th Pride Parade marches in record numbers

The 20th annual Saskatoon Pride Parade marched through the city on Saturday afternoon.

When the Pride Parade first started in Saskatoon there was under 500 participants. Twenty years later, at least 4-thousand showed up to support the national event.

“This is the most accepting environment you’ll find on the face of the earth,” said Ward 5 candidate James Ford.

While the attendance is better than ever, pride goers say Saskatoon still has some work to do in becoming one of Canada’s top cities to support Pride Week.

“I’ve participated in a lot of pride activities across the country and have found that Saskatoon is generally one of the more conservative places,” says Ford.
